Tamieka Thomasson serves as the director of educational services for The Reginald
S. Lourie Center’s Lourie Center School (LCS), a Maryland State
Department of Education (MSDE) accredited non-public school that serves
children with complex emotional and developmental problems. She also

student psycho-educational assessments, monitoring IEPs, developing
individualized material for classrooms and providing in-service training
to LCS staff. Prior to joining the Lourie Center, Tamieka was a
teacher’s assistant and lower camp director for Barrie Day School in
Silver Spring, Maryland. Tamieka also served as special education

education needs within the educational system in order to provide them
with an appropriate academic setting.

Tamieka earned a bachelor’s degree in human development with a minor
in early childhood education from Howard University. She received her
master’s degree in education and human development with a
concentration on early childhood special education from The George
Washington University. Tamieka has advanced professional certification
from MSDE in generic special education, infant through grade eight.
