Program
Description
The
Therapeutic Nursery Program (TNP) is a specialized preschool
that addresses the needs of young children three to
five years of age with emotional and behavioral problems
that may interfere with success in a regular preschool
or day care setting. Without intervention these difficulties
and behaviors may place the child at risk for school
failure. The TNP fosters appropriate social, intellectual,
emotional, and physical growth in each child.

Children
learn to regulate the expression of their feelings,
improve behavior within the classroom, and improve self-esteem
by experiencing success in the group program. The TNP
emphasizes building trusting relationships based on
the philosophy that healthy relationships are the context
for learning, growth, and change. The TNP also provides
family-focused services to address the needs of families
and caregivers.
